Our Commitment

Buildster is a medium tier Head Contract construction company specialising in challenging, multidiscipline, design and construct as well as construct only projects. We have extensive experience successfully operating in live environments governed by strict security protocols.

Our commitment to a strong safety culture goes beyond the statutory regulations and uses a combination of data, trends, technology and systems to make our safety processes current, effective and comprehensive. Some of the systems we use include:

INFORMATION SHARING PLATFORM: Our customisable digital platform enables our teams to manage processes effectively and uniformly across all projects. The platform is accessible from a multitude of digital devices and provides transparency and compliance throughout the project to manage Inductions, SWMS, Permits, Checklists, Equipment, Personnel and more. This further aids managers in better understanding where support is required and motivates site teams to stay focused on risk management.

Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) are obtained, reviewed and approved in our digital platform for all High Risk construction work. SWMS are updated whenever control measures are changed. High Risk construction work includes:

  1. work that involves a risk of a person falling more than two metres

  2. work on a telecommunication tower

  3. demolition of an element of a structure that is load-bearing or otherwise related to the physical integrity of the

    structure

  4. work that involves, or is likely to involve, the disturbance of asbestos

  5. structural alterations or repairs that require temporary support to prevent collapse

  6. work in or near a confined space

  7. work in or near a shaft or trench with an excavated depth greater than 1.5 metres

  8. work in or near a tunnel

  9. use of explosives

  10. work on or near pressurised gas distribution mains or piping

  11. work on or near chemical, fuel or refrigerant lines

  12. work on or near energised electrical installations or services

  13. work in an area that may have a contaminated or flammable atmosphere

  14. work involving tilt-up or precast concrete

  15. work on, in or adjacent to a road, railway, shipping lane or other traffic corridor that is in use by traffic other than pedestrians

  16. work in areas in which there is movement of powered mobile plant

  17. work in areas in which there are artificial extremes of temperature

  18. work in or near water or other liquid that involves a risk of drowning

  19. work that involves diving work.

IMPROVED SYSTEMS TO MANAGE RISK: Our specific Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Control (HIRAC) method was developed by our Senior Management team in consultation with all staff, subcontractors, guidelines, and industry professionals. Undertaking our HIRAC approach is the cornerstone for developing our WHS Management Plan. The process focuses on tools for the planning and checking of risks across three areas: People, Plant and Processes.

CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT: The safety systems and data undergo regular review to spot trends and areas for improvement. Improvements can be significant, such as overhauling the risk management system, or minor. We often find that small changes can have the biggest impact on our people going home safely.
