Wollongong MUD

Project Description

Buildster was engaged to deliver minor repair and maintenance works to the Wollongong Multi-User Depot (MUD) and its surrounding infrastructure, focused primarily on the facility's services and a new roof. The works were delivered construct-only within a live and secure Defence environment.

The scope included re-roofing across the buildings with new gutters, downpipes and a compliant roof safety system, along with CCTV inspection and repair of existing inground drainage. Mechanical air conditioning was upgraded throughout, and compliance works addressed fire rating, hose reels and electrical switchboards. Internally, Buildster delivered new ceilings, updated joinery and floor coverings, manual roller shutter replacements and an LED lighting upgrade across all buildings, together with a new main switchboard, an upgraded oily water separator and re-roofing and cladding to the armoury.

A significant portion of the works centred on security and fire systems. Buildster installed a new sprinkler system throughout the armoury enclosure and a custom gas suppression system to three individual concrete vaults. New front entry security gates and a turnstile were installed to monitor vehicles and pedestrians entering the site, supported by new inground power and communications, while civil works to the rear of the main building addressed overland flow and damp mitigation.
