Design and Construct upgrade of essential fire detection and construction of new live in accommodation area

The works completed in a live environment – Buildster worked within occupied Defence buildings. Planning, cooperation and co-ordination was required by Buildster to minimise our impact.

On commencement we were given a basic outline of what Defence required on completion but was up to Buildster to deliver the compliant BCA solution. BCA conditions such as Fire Compartment, Protection of Openings, Fire Hazard Properties, Balustrading & Handrail, Fire Hose Reels and Portable Extinguishers were all satisfied. The Private Certifier carried out final inspection before handover and issued certification on the same day. It was seamless process and a compliant solution was achieved. 

As the works were to create a new accommodation wing the walls were required to be 2 hour fire rated and acoustically rated. Our BCA compliant solution was to use CSR125 system (staggered steel studs, 75mm prime insulation, two layers of 13mm fyrecheck plasterboard each side of the wall) extending to the underside of the roof.
